CHECKERHEAD NEWS ~ JUNE 2005

Wow! June already! 2005 has been a busy year for "The Checkerboard Guy" and he wanted to share with you some of the highlights...

A NEW LOOK AT CHECKERHEAD.COM ~ A fully revamped Checkerboard Guy web presence can now be found at

http://www.checkerhead.com and/or

http://www.checkerboardguy.com and/or

http://www.thecheckerboardguy.com.

The addition of the last two domain names came about after a trip to Japan at the end of April/beginning of May when Magician, Joe Monti, suggested that having domain names directly related to the performance name made sense. Thanks for the suggestion Joe! Included on the site are videos, pictures, posters, a fully downloadable promotional kit along with some other fun contained in an area of the site simply referred to as "Waffles." Use the navigational bar at the top of the page and surf your way around The Checkerboard Guy's newly renovated home on the web.

ANCHORS AWAY ~ Back before the trip to Japan, David had the opportunity to showcase his talents for Don Casino Productions and select members of the Cruise Ship Industry. Representatives from some of the best lines in the industry (Princess, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Carnival & Oceania Cruises, Holland America & Celebrity) showed up to watch some of the new talent that Don Casino wanted to represent and The Checkerboard Guy was selected to be the only juggler in the line-up. Response to his performance was almost immediate and two weeks after the showcase, The Checkerboard Guy boarded Celebrity Cruises "Zenith" for a week's voyage around the Caribbean.

Professor Checkerhead back in action! ~ Smack dab between when he showcased for the cruise ship industry and when he was actually onboard a ship, David got another chance to perform as the somewhat eccentric Professor Checkerhead who uses juggling to visually describe musical concepts such as rhythm, tempo, and scales. This time around he had the pleasure of flying down to Biloxi, Mississippi where he got to perform with the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. John W. Strickler at the amazing Beau Rivage Resort. The show was a huge hit prompting one mother from the audience to write -

"Thank you for your work! What a blessing you were to our family."

More information about "The Professor Checkerhead" Symphony Show can be found at the Arcadian Productions web site - (http://www.arcadianproductions.ca).

Let the Summer Season Start!!! ~ Right then... The warmer weather means that The Checkerboard Guy can get back to some fun outdoor performances, and this year's season started off with a fantastic trip to Canmore, Alberta for the Canmore Children's Festival. Tucked right in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, this is an amazingly picturesque place to perform and The Checkerboard Guy was delighted to be invited back for his second visit to the festival!

The Checkerboard Guy was also asked to be a part of the SEGI (Summer Entertainment on Granville Island) and for the first time in years is back to his old stomping grounds on Granville Island. He'll be working on some new material, revamping some old classics and basically keeping things sharp by performing in the sink or swim environment that only a street show can provide. The SEGI program runs all Summer long, so when The Checkerboard Guy isn't running around the country to such events at the Brockville Busker's Festival, The Canada Day Celebrations in Ottawa, The Red Deer International Street Performers Festival or The Pacific National Exhibition check out his on-line tour calendar to see when he'll next be performing on Granville Island.

SO HOW DO I BOOK THIS GUY? ~ The Summer's looking busy, but should you be interested in bringing The Checkerboard Guy in for an event in the coming months, he'd love to hear from you! Just drop him and email at: cbg@checkerhead.com, and he'll be more than happy to get right back to you!

"I've been to a lot of festivals and seen a lot of performances and the Checkerboard Guy is a real Superstar! He keeps a captive audience laughing, lovin' every minute of his show."
